Founders Journey Tour

The whiskey tasting includes an approximately one hour informative and interesting guided tour, during which you will learn a lot about the history and customs of Portmagee. James Murphy really puts his heart and soul into it. The whiskey itself is just awesome! I've already tried a few Irish whiskeys, but the Portmagee whiskey puts all the others in the shade for me: complex, round, long finish and yet very soft and therefore a pleasant whiskey even for not so die-hard malt connoisseurs.

Lovely place and a must-visit when passing through Portmagee. Beautiful visitor center and delicious smooth whiskey that can compete with the best Speyside and Japanese offerings. Got a tour from one of the owners, James Murphy, and his enthusiasm about the history of Portmagee, the Seine boats and the general sense of community was absolutely captivating. Very excited about their plans for the future.

This place is the answer to the question of who can live in such a place and why. We came here "just" to taste the whiskey. We left not only with a bottle, but with the feeling that we must return to Portmagee one day to see how James has progressed with his great plans...and of course for another bottle.

Great event by young people with an idea and a vision on how to improve their community in the long term. Portmagee's history lesson comes with delicious whiskey and no mass-produced goods. Unfortunately, if you want to see a distillery in action, you won't find it here at the moment. Because the whiskey is made elsewhere in Ireland. A micro distillery is planned for the future in Portmagee. As I said, a very young company with an ambitious project. What deserves support. Honest and real, without much frills.
